Roof Cleaning in the Central Valley

Low-pressure roof cleaning that removes black streaks, moss and organic growth without dislodging granules, cracking tile or voiding your warranty.

Those dark streaks running down a roof are usually algae feeding on the limestone filler in asphalt shingles. Moss is worse — it holds moisture against the roof and lifts shingle edges over time. Neither one belongs on a roof you'd like to keep for another decade.

Roof cleaning is soft washing, full stop. High pressure strips the protective granule layer off asphalt shingle and forces water under tile. We apply a low-pressure cleaning solution that kills the organism, let it work, and rinse gently. Growth continues dying off and fading in the weeks after we leave.

We protect landscaping and gutters below the work area first, and while we're up there we can clear the gutters in the same visit so the runoff has somewhere to go.

Common questions

Will roof cleaning damage my shingles?
Not with soft washing. Pressure washing a roof absolutely can — which is why we don't do it.
How soon will the streaks disappear?
Many are gone immediately; remaining shadowing continues fading over the following weeks as the treated growth dies off and weathers away.
How often should a Central Valley roof be cleaned?
Every two to three years for most homes; shaded roofs and homes under heavy tree cover need it more often.
